My name is Zak Johnson and I am a multi-disciplinary graphic designer & illustrator. I grew up in Port Moody, British Columbia, Canada.
I wouldn’t go far as to say my time growing up was anything but normal. Having grown up in a relatively large family of ten, music and entertainment was a re-occurring theme, with art surrounding my day-to-day life. I started a punk band after high school and pushed it for four years, mostly performing live in downtown Vancouver. The hardest lesson learnt was the consistent effort of getting noticed. Designing and plastering posters across the city was a just one of the core part of the process. This is what led me to brand marketing and graphic design.
Performing live was a rush like no other. I relate to the struggling and passionate artist, which is one of the biggest rewards when designing the packaging for their work. The passion and hard work put into music and art of all kinds should also be present on it's package, both in the physical and digital.
“In the modern world, individuality is everything, and in a sea of music trying to be heard, be seen.”
